Hi, welcome to my site. My name is Jim Dove and I'm a guitarist and singer. I also dabble with the piano, drums and bass guitar.
Through the years of playing with 4 or 5 piece bands, I've found it increasingly difficult to keep the bands working and to keep them together. So about 10 years ago I bought a synthesizer and a sequencer (a musical computer of sorts) and started providing my own band sounds on a floppy disk. Now I primarily play solo or with 1 or 2 other people, but the sound is very similar to a full band. The 2 piece format is much more affordable to club owners, and the band is easier to keep together.
I've been playing music professionally for about 30 years and it is what I enjoy most. I mostly played Rock & Roll in my early years and then branched out into other musical styles ranging from classical to blues, jazz and country. Basically, whatever the occasion calls for. I studied classical guitar and music theory in college and I attribute much of my versatility to that experience.
In the past couple of years I've devoted much of my time to learning to play the piano. I really enjoy the challenge of trying to get good enough to take my keyboard out at a gig for the first time. Hopefully, soon.
